Table in the wilderness:

A table in a vast and desolate landscape under an intense turquoise sky.

A place at this table?

In the solitude and isolation of wilderness, at this table, a place is prepared.

At this table Jesus meets us, nourishes us - spiritually and physically.

Bread and Wine; Lamb of God; bitter herbs; a lamb sandwich and a bottle of red.

Sacrament and culture.

Remembering and belonging.

A place at the table.

Introducing aspects of metaphor and symbol in the artwork:

Cobalt-turquoise in the 'sky' is a valued mineral...

Earth pigments in the 'ground' are coloured dirt...

The horizon, interface of heaven and earth; new places; new experiences; new ways of seeing...

The table glows with reflected light, has no shadow, has room for others, is somehow familiar...

The wine, symbol for Christ; its placement on the table...

The lamb sandwich- bread, the Lord's Supper, body of Christ; daily bread...

 - lamb, the Lamb of God...

 - an ordinary meal...

 - cut in triangles the way one might prepare it to share...

A table in the wilderness,

A place at the table,

Consider...
